I’d posted the photo of my Christmas tree going home in my truck, and an old friend just let me know that his Tacoma is on its way. I asked him what spec he got, and he said TRD Off Road (like mine), manual (like mine), in Caval ry Blue (great color - was Pro only up until 2019).
Which color would you choose, OPPO? Caval ry Blue, Cement, Inferno (discontinued) other?
(not his truck or mine pictured)

That blue is exactly what I’d get, same options too. Wow. Love.

*Cavalry* Blue is a good color and wish it was an option on more cars.
Sorry, pet peeve.

Option D: Melbourne Red.

2nd gen, Inferno. 3rd gen, Voodoo Blue.

Haha - fixed!

Yeah, it’s great. Guess he got some other bells & whistles, too. No other options on mine (but it comes with a lot of tech out of the box).

I think I’d go for the blue. I’ve never really been fond of those burnt orange colors.

the blue. I saw one in a parking lot and had to stop to check it out

Cement hides dirt for the most part..
Also, am I the only Taco owner that is disappointed
in braking response?

I almost went with Blazing Blue Pearl (bright metallic blue) on my ‘18 , but changed to Cement right at the end. No regrets. I would’ve gone crazy trying to keep that blue shiny and clean...
I really like a bright orange on some sports cars , but I’m the same as you on burnt orange.
Might be able to swing Sakhir Orange on a sports car (a little redder/ darker), but I definitely prefer blues.

yeah id be calling in the Cavalry too

And gravel dust. That’s a good part of why I got it.
I don’t really work my brakes hard in day to day driving, but I haven’t noticed any issues. The truck does dive a bit under heavy braking, for sure, especially with the OR suspension.
Are you talking about initial bite? I mean, compared to your Cayman or my M3 , yeah... it’s no comparison.

Each time I see a new T aco particularly in grey, tan, or blue. I think, “man it really sucks in the best kind of way that I have and love my ranger, or I’d have to go and get a new Taco.”
When I go mountain biking, there are always at least a few of them in the parking lot. I’m always ooogling.

Quicksand

Haha - your Ranger is sweet. Hoping my Tacoma is in as good of shape after 15 years!
Never hurts to look. =)

It really goes fit the truck perfectly. I feel like Cavalry Blue, Cement and Quicksand all do.

I was waiting for that! =)

I don’t know why but I’m a big fan of the tan.
But my wife said “ew, why would you ever want that colour.”
So I’ll never get this colour when I decide to pull the trigger.

One of these days I’m going to need at least one vehicle that is safe enough for the munchkin to ride in. The M3 is safe enough but not very convenient.
It makes sense that my dad car be a pickup, but it doesn’t make sense to have two pickups, thus my dilemma. I’ve put so much work into the ranger that I’d hate to get rid of it.

Haha - it’s classic!
I initially had Blazing Blue Pearl in mind, but showed my wife the blue and Cement, and she preferred the gray. Glad she did!

It’s unfortunate they only offered it til 2016.

My oldest is about to turn 12, so part of the idea of buying this truck is that it’s the one that he and his sister (and maybe our little guy, too ) would learn to drive on, it will be their first car that they drive to school, and - if I’m willing to give it up - I might let one of them buy it from me one day. The plan is to keep it in the family for a very long time.

What? Still available on their website.

Yeah, I partly blame the Cayman, I’m spoiled when it comes to handling & braking. Maybe it’s the weight but I find I need to brake much earlier in the Taco, something I have to remind myself of every time I drive it.

That debadged cement looks good. My emblems all came off soon after it got home
. Now about that door pillar
vinyl
.. are you fond of it?

Haha oops, I was looking at colors for some other Toyota.
How long have you owned your Taco for? My dad’s been thinking about replacing his Tundra with one.

I’m on the fence about taking the stickers off, but the V6 on the back is definitely coming off soon, and maybe the badges on the sides, too... Never had a dealer badge on it, thankfully.
I don’t dislike it, but it looks good without it, too. Hmm... If I keep it, I need to get my front windows tinted to match the rears.

Just got it earlier this year. 6k miles so far. Very happy with it.
Slooow compared with your dad’s Tundra - ha!

That’s what he’s gonna miss for sure. The 4.7 sounds nice with an exhaust and intake, he’s got a bit of a lead foot too.

You’re so spoiled... haha. It’s definitely the weight, and higher center of gravity.
But honestly, I’m pretty impressed at how speedily I can boogie through a corner in my Tacoma. It handles pretty nicely for a truck.

My other car has power to spare , so I can get my fix when I need to. Better make sure he gets a long test drive. I wasn’t at all impressed with the automatic and “shift logic” in the new Tacoma. Was hunting a lot during my short test drive. Apparently there’s a TSB that revises the settings, but I’d tell him to take a long test drive and do some reading before getting too committed.

Mine came off right away, as soon as I saw some examples on TW I was out there peeling.. It does make it look more like a 2nd gen..

Looks great, especially with the camper top. Since mine’s an OR with more black accents, I think I’ll keep it (for now).
Ever consider pulling the stickers on the bedsides?

I was concerned that they might get overlapped by the canopy so I was looking into taking them off. That’s a lot of area though and I’ve read some horror stories about getting them off clean .
When it went on they fit perfect - I was happy to keep them.
I have a Baja Desi
gns
problem
, I’m addicted to good lights and I don’t think there is anything better. S2 flush
reverse light in the mail right now..

I really haven’t spent any (additional) money on my truck yet. But when the floodgates open... I’m going to be in trouble.
